11 private collections on display beginning [UPDATED]Published 9:37am Thursday, April 11, 2013 Updated 11:42am Thursday, April 11, 2013
The public is invited to attend a special opening for the “LRAC Private Collection” exhibit in Lake Region Arts Council’s LRAC/McKnight Gallery at the historic River Inn, 133 S. Mill St., Fergus Falls. The opening reception will be held on Tuesday, April 16 from 5 to 6:30 pm.
This exhibit features artwork from the private collections of LRAC Board members and staff. Each Board member submitted up to 3 pieces of art from their own collections to be considered by an outside juror for inclusion in the exhibit. Artworks on display come from the collections of: Carolyn Aarsvold, Douglas County; Maxine Adams, Gary Henrickson, and Connie Payson, Otter Tail County; Christian Boe, Traverse County; Michael Eble, Stevens County; Jane Gudmundson, Clay County; Minette Stalheim Johnson, Pope County; Kari Kjesbo, Elizabeth Ostenson, and Timothy Ray, Grant County.
The artwork promises to be as varied and interesting as the individuals themselves. Viewers will be able to see who has a fondness for abstract art and who prizes their Japanese woodcuts.
It is an excellent opportunity to visit with the collectors, while viewing their art.
Concurrently on exhibit in LRAC’s Solo Gallery through May are works by two students who participated in LRAC’s Artist-Mentor Program: Sharaya Schwardt, Minnewaska Area Schools (Pope County) who mentored with painter Tracy Alt Anderson and Aaron Berge, Fergus Falls Senior High School (Otter Tail County) who mentored with potter Sean Scott. The student artists will also be participating in the reception.
The LRAC Private Collection Exhibit will be on display through July 5.
