Women of Grace Methodist will host spiritual retreat [UPDATED]Published 7:29am Monday, April 15, 2013 Updated 9:34am Monday, April 15, 2013
Women of Grace United Methodist Church, Fergus Falls, invite all area women to join in a spiritual retreat “God is Bigger than you Think” from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, April 20.
Led by the Rev. Sharon Johnson, the day will include learning, singing, praying and praising.
She will explore why bad things happen to good people and help us to understand the will of God. She will teach us to learn, to not only survive but thrive as we learn to trust in a big, big God.
Johnson, who has retired to Battle Lake, loves storytelling, speaking, making people laugh and celebrating life to the fullest. Through humor and scriptures, she will offer practical suggestions for learning to trust the Lord.
She has learned trust through her own life experiences of grief and loss, struggles with cancer treatments and joy in survival.
Following a teaching career, she graduated from seminary and was ordained into the United Methodist ministry.
Some of the churches where she has served include Breckenridge, Foxhome, Clarissa, Eagle Bend, Hutchinson and Buffalo.
Interspersed with Johnson’s message, Kayleen Frich Brausen will lead the group in praise through song. Kayleen is a church musician whose joy in sharing music is evident. Her life journey has included grief and loss through divorce, widowhood and cancer. Her work career was as a nurse in clinic and hospital settings, teaching at a community college and with Lakeland Hospice.
The registration fee of $20 includes all materials, lunch and breaks. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. with muffins and coffee or tea.
Early registration by April 17 is encouraged to guarantee a meal. Register with Grace United Methodist Church, 1100 Friberg Avenue, Fergus Falls MN 56537, or phone 218-739-2269.
