A Sebeka man who allegedly punched a pit bull and two people has been charged in Otter Tail County District Court.

John Theodore Bodine, 25, had his first court appearance Tuesday, April 9 and was charged with felony domestic assault by strangulation, and two misdemeanor counts of domestic assault.

According to the criminal complaint, Bodine was with a group of people at a party in Sebeka on the night of April 6 when he started “punching and beating” his dog, a large, white pit bull, for an unknown reason. Bodine was allegedly intoxicated.

When a woman tried to intervene and mentioned calling 911, Bodine reportedly put his hands on her throat, making it difficult for her to breathe.

She reportedly said Bodine punched her several times; she punched him in the nose in an effort to get away.

Bodine allegedly punched a man several times when he tried to step in as well.

Bodine’s next court appearance is scheduled for April 22.
