Red Cross Blood Drive May 1-3 at WestRidge [UPDATED]Published 9:41am Thursday, April 18, 2013 Updated 11:49am Thursday, April 18, 2013
There is a great need now more than ever. Thirty blood drives in Minnesota were cancelled in March due to bad weather.
In the U.S., 425 blood drives were cancelled in March. There was an estimated 16,000 units of blood that were greatly needed and could not be drawn because of this bad weather. Every blood donation is important, and maintaining a diverse blood supply is a priority to the American Red Cross because of its importance to patients.
The Red Cross Bloodmobile will be at the former Hallmark store at WestRidge Mall in Fergus Falls on the following dates:
• Wednesday, May 1, from 1 to 7 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome after 2 p.m.
• Thursday, May 2, from 1 to 7 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome after 2 p.m.
• Friday, May 3, from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome anytime.
There needs to be 112 days between “double red cell” donation and 56 days for the last whole blood donation which can be up to six times a year. Those that donated “double red cells” in January in Fergus Falls are not eligible to donate in May at the Fergus Falls Blood Drive.
