EVANSVILLE — Spring has finally come for the Brandon-Evansville baseball team and they opened their season in style as a 10-run fourth inning propelled them to 12-0 win versus Hancock in their season opener.
The Chargers struck early as Zach Carlson knocked in Tom Bosek in the bottom half of the first. Brandon would follow with another run in the second as Kevin Roers scored on a Brandon Christanson fielder’s choice.
The fourth inning’s offensive explosion saw the Chargers send 14 batters to the plate with each runner scoring once as the team collected eight hits in the inning.
Mitch Anderson led the B-E batters going 2 for 3 with three RBI and two doubles, while teammate Christianson collected two RBI and a triple in a 1 for 3 day at the plate.
Bosek would pick up the win for the Chargers as he went the distance, pitching five shutout innings, sitting down 10 Owl hitters and allowing two hits in the win.
The Chargers will welcome in the Hillcrest Comets for a double-header Thursday beginning at 4 p.m. in Evansville.
