Erhard resident jailed for assault [UPDATED]Published 4:38am Monday, April 29, 2013 Updated 6:40am Monday, April 29, 2013
Jennifer Lou Hams, 35, of Erhard, was sentenced Friday, April 19 in Otter Tail County District Court to 30 days in jail for felony second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon. She pleaded guilty March 8.
According to the criminal complaint, a man called authorities Sept. 30, 2012 and asked for a welfare check on his wife, after they had an altercation outside their house. Hams reportedly got upset, retrieved a loaded gun from the house, went back outside and held it to her head. The man had told her to kill herself, Hams reportedly told authorities.
She also reportedly fired rounds in the air and then pointed the gun at her husband. He eventually got the gun away from her, and he said he was scared for himself when Hams pointed the gun at him, the report says.
