BRECKENRIDGE — The Fergus Falls track and field team competed in the Anderson/Schuler relays taking third.
The meet combined both boys and girls score for an overall team score.
The hosting Cowboys took the top spot with a 306 combined score, while West Central Area (276) was the runner-up and the Otters (193) finished in third.
“We took mostly our freshman and sophomores today,” Otter boys coach Randy Hansen said. “It gave them more of a chance to compete.”
Michael Ervin took first in the 400 meter dash with a time of 55.61, while Hayden Vogel took the top spot in the shotput with a distance of 42’01.
On the girls side, Samantha Velde won the discus with a throw of 113’04, while teammate Laura Enderson took top honors in the long jump (14’02).
The Hillcrest Comets were also present at the meet and saw great showings from several athletes.
Anders Bjorndal took two first place finishes in the 800 meter (2:07.66) and the 1600 meter (4:57.21) runs for the Comets.
Hillcrest’s Vanessa Konyenbelt took second in the 400 meter (1:07.45), third in the 100 meter (13.86) and fourth in the 200 meter (29.75) runs.
The Otters and Comets will be back in action Monday as both travel to Battle Lake for the Otter Tail Central Invitational.
