Dolores Sylvia was born on October 30, 1944, in Tracy, the daughter of August Raymond and Irene Elizabeth (Kosse) Verstraete. She was baptized and confirmed at the Catholic Church of Tracy. She attended elementary and High School in Tracy where she graduated. After high school, Dolores attended a nursing program in Mitchell, S.D., where she received her Licensed Practical Nursing degree.
On July 10, 1965, she married Dennis Dean Charbonneau at the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. The couple are the parents of three daughters, Sandy, Julie and Tammy.
Dolores worked at the Lewis Wiener Memorial Hospital in Marshall, St. Xavier Hospital in Charleston, S.C., St. Joseph Hospital in St. Paul and Dawson Hospital in Dawson, all of these working as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She worked her later years as a Para Professional at the Parkers Prairie Elementary School retiring on Sept. 21, 2004, after 30 years of faithful service.
Dolores was a member of St. Williams Catholic Church where she served on the Funeral and Christmas Decorating Committee. She served 30 years in the Christian Mothers and was a past office president. Dolores also was a CCD Religion Teacher and member of the Chamber of Commerce.
Dolores enjoyed camping, dancing and flowers. She loved spending time with family and enjoyed many trips with her husband, Dennis. Some of their more memorable trips was their 25th wedding anniversary trip to Alaska, visiting Glacier National Park and the Columbia Ice Fields, their visits to the upper eighth State parks of the North Shore, Duluth, and visiting five National Parks in Utah.
Dolores had a very spiritual side where she enjoyed reading, gospel music and praying and spending time with the Lord.
Preceding her in death were her parents, August and Irene; a granddaughter, Brenna Hanson; and a godchild, Dennis Verstraete.
She is survived by her husband, Dennis Charbonneau; three daughters, Sandy (Mike) Mulford of Northville, Julie (Al) Hanson of Rochert and Tammy (Dennis) Sommerfeld of Rogers,; two brothers, Bob (Mary) Verstraete of Hugo and Dean (Sally) Verstraete of Minot, N.D.; two sisters, Jan (John) Nelson of Slayton and Pat (Nels) Myhre of Minneota; five grandchildren, Zach Mulford, Jake Mulford, Caitlin Hanson, Jerry Tygeson and Joe Mulford; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and a host of friends.
Visitation: Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m., and a Christian Mothers Rosary at 7:30 p.m., at the church, and one hour prior to the service at the church
