Last year, local garden club members set about to create a farmers market in Fergus Falls and found success at its location on the grounds of the Otter Tail Historical Society and Museum.
This year, the group, with assistance from Janet Lindberg of OTC Public Health and Emily Tonello, a recent graduate of the Sustainable Food Production program at M State-hope it will grow even bigger.
Applications from growers of local produce are requested, along with others interested in selling plants, flowers, baked and processed goods, meat, eggs, dairy and crafts or artwork. Request an application from Emily Tonello at firstname.lastname@example.org, 218-205-5899.
This season the market will begin on Saturday, June 28 and run each Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. through Sept. 29, with surprises planned each week.
The market is now officially aligned with the Minnesota Farmers Market Association and Minnesota Grown, both of which have guidelines which will help the local vendors successfully market their wares.
The market board will also be supporting and promoting the Farmers Market at Art in the Park, Thursday evenings from 5:30 p.m. before and during the concert at Roosevelt Park, June through September.
