Spuds seven-run inning dooms Otters 14-3Published 10:06am Thursday, May 16, 2013
The Fergus Falls baseball team could not avoid one bad inning Wednesday as they dropped its fifth straight game to the Moorhead Spuds 14-3.
Fergus was able to jump out to an early lead as Abbot Aho crossed to the plate on a Austin Hanson groundout. Moorhead would respond in the top of the second as they used seven hits to knock in seven runs and take a commanding lead.
The Spuds would continue to swat the ball all over the field as Moorhead finished with 19 hits in the game.
Brady Hansen took the loss for the Otters on the mound going five innings and allowing eight earned.
While the Spuds were hitting the cover off the ball, the Fergus hitters struggled to make contact as the Otters only recorded five hits in the game.
Hanson had the best day from the plate as he went one for two with two RBI and a walk.
“Will get a break, which we need,” Otter coach Mark Aho said. “Hopefully with some practice we can eliminate the errors and improve going into our final week of the regular season.
The Otters will wrap up its regular season schedule next week beginning with a 4 p.m. home game against Park Rapids Area Monday.
