IRS abused its power [UPDATED]

Published 9:06am Wednesday, May 22, 2013 Updated 11:07am Wednesday, May 22, 2013

Where does it say that the IRS has authority to regulate free speech?

The IRS scandalous revelations keep coming. Obama’s spokespeople told us two employees had been singled out for “rogue behavior” and had “been disciplined.”

Does that mean they lose library card privileges for a week or two? Forfeit two coffee breaks?

However, employees of the IRS Cincinnati office, where this abuse of power was based, have told the press that at least four other employees and supervisors are involved in this outrage, and all are claiming they “just did what their bosses ordered.”

Then, President Obama held a very short press event to announce that he had fired the temporary IRS Commissioner, who wasn’t even the Commissioner when this all happened.

But, Obama failed to let on that the Commissioner had given notice months ago that he planned to resign from his temporary within two weeks from now, and the “firing” won’t take effect until almost the end of this month. Some discipinary action, eh?

The IRS singled out pro life groups, hundreds of conservative groups such as Tea Party chapters, groups organized to teach about the Constitution, pro Israel Jewish groups, defenders of family values, Christians, and denied them tax numbers as non profit groups, or dragged out the review and appoval process for as long as two years.

Yet, pro abortion and pro homosexual marriage and anti religious groups were quickly granted tax exempt status.

One pro life group were told by the IRS that they would also have to promote abortion if they wanted the tax exempt status.

So, I ask again, where does the IRS get the authority to regulate free speech by denying the privilege to speak out against the excesses of the Obama regime?

If the Obama-controlled IRS can pick and choose, on the basis of whether a group favors or opposes the Obama regime, who gets status to speak, then free speech has died.

And, to add to the outrage , the Commissioner of the Cincinnati group who led the teams to deny free speech to conservatives, Christians, supporters of the Constitution? She has just been appointed by the Obama regime to be in charge of administering the Obamacare scheme.

Should we expect Obama to use her to pick who gets health care based on whether they worship

Obama, or oppose his policies?

How much longer will Americans stand for this assault on our freedom?

“How much longer will Americans stand for this assault on our freedom?”

    Have you ever watched:

    Jay Walking with Jay Leno?

    Watters World with Jesse Watters?

    Howard Stearn interviewing Obama supporters?

How Obama god elected, by John Ziegler?

Bill, the average American knows nothing about any of the scandals, and the mainstream media will do little to change that. Heck, Obama, Eric Holder and the rest of the sewer rats in this administration don’t even know anything about them. Haven’t you heard talking points; They’re all a Republican witch hunts. There’s no there there! There’s nothing to see here, just move on! No one knows who wrote the talking points! No one knows who sent Susan Wright out there! I have recused myself! We found out from the TV reports, just like everyone else! I plead the 5th!

Seargeant Schultz could have worked in this White House. “I know nothing, I see nothing, I heard nothing”

I am not sure I would like to be Bill when the 0bama trolls on this blog report him to the IRS for writing this letter about their conspiracy to shut down all opposition to the agenda of the 0bama regime. Bill, maybe you should alert your attorney to prepare a defense for when you are indicted for offending the messiah 0bama’s sanctity.

    • Richard Olson

Merle, you really surprise me. Even I don’t watch a pig like Howard Stearn. But I can see why he would appeal to you, he’s a sexist, a misogynist a phony and an outright pig. I always wondered where you got your talking points and ideas about the world. After you admit to watching “Howard Stearn”, I need wonder no more.
And the title of that book you cite is “How Obama got elected”. I guess it was a Freudian slip when you substituted “God” for “Got”. Why do you associate President Obama with God? Perhaps a few hours or weeks with a qualified psychotherapist would disabuse you of your psychosis. Or perhaps simply refrain from the parking lot at Wal-Mart.

      • stymie

You still haven’t explained why Obama’s pants are on fire.

  • Richard Olson

Time weighs heavy on idle hands. Time to spread rumors, time to dream up another conspiracy, time to paint reactionary subversives as well meaning civic minded social societies. And as always, time to paint yourself as another member of a group persecuted for your religion and denied basic freedoms, such as free speech.

First, of all those conservative groups Bill mentions are a bunch of reactionary malcontents who have been threatening violent insurrection for the past four years. They show up at gang meetings with signs that say “We came unarmed this time” and some have arrived at outdoor Presidential speeches with loaded sidearm’s.
They have stirred for secession and civil war. Preached that government is tyranny and confiscates their money and takes their guns and forbids freedom to worship.

Then, in stunned amazement they stand mouths agape wondering why the IRS might want give these kooks and freaks some extra scrutiny when they file for tax exempt status because they pretend to be a “SOCIAL” organization

What social function is served when armed thugs confront peacefully demonstrating “Moms against Guns” in an effort to stop their “free speech”? Where was Bill Schulz’s protest letter then?

What social function is served when tea party racists attend rally’s with signs showing President Obama hanging from a tree? Where was Bill Schulz indignant letter then?

Let’s be clear about some facts, George Bush used the IRS, FBI, the CIA and the Secret Service to get back at people they considered to be un-American and to get this nation into to an unwarranted and illegal war. We heard no protest from Bill Schulz about such activities for eight full years.

Here is another fact William Schulz in Fergus Falls Minnesota is the only person on earth who claims to have proof that President Obama directed or knew about any of the issues Bill whines about here.

One more fact. We now know that the conservative republicans are the ones who “phonyed up” White House Benghazi e-mails and hand fed them to the so-called lamestream media at ABC news. Where was Bill Schulz during that crime by his fellow travelers? Dispensing his own brand of truth to his faithful posse in the Wal-Mart parking lot, no doubt.

–President Bill Clinton, Feb. 4, 1998

“If Saddam rejects peace and we have to use force, our purpose is clear. We want to seriously diminish the threat posed by Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction program.”
–President Bill Clinton, Feb. 17, 1998

“Iraq is a long way from [here], but what happens there matters a great deal here. For the risks that the leaders of a rogue state will use nuclear, chemical or biological weapons against us or our allies is the greatest security threat we face.”

–Sandy Berger, Clinton National Security Adviser, Feb, 18, 1998

“[W]e urge you, after consulting with Congress, and consistent with the U.S. Constitution and laws, to take necessary actions (including, if appropriate, air and missile strikes on suspect Iraqi sites) to respond effectively to the threat posed by Iraq’s refusal to end its weapons of mass destruction programs.”
Letter to President Clinton, signed by:
      – Democratic Senators Carl Levin, Tom Daschle, John Kerry, and others, Oct. 9, 1998

      – Madeline Albright, Clinton Secretary of State, Nov. 10, 1999

“There is no doubt that … Saddam Hussein has reinvigorated his weapons programs. Reports indicate that biological, chemical and nuclear programs continue apace and may be back to pre-Gulf War status. In addition, Saddam continues to redefine delivery systems and is doubtless using the cover of a licit missile program to develop longer-range missiles that will threaten the United States and our allies.”
Letter to President Bush, Signed by:
      – Sen. Bob Graham (D, FL), and others, Dec 5, 2001

“We begin with the common belief that Saddam Hussein is a tyrant and a threat to the peace and stability of the region. He has ignored the mandate of the United Nations and is building weapons of mass destruction and th! e means of delivering them.”
      – Sen. Carl Levin (D, MI), Sept. 19, 2002

“We know that he has stored secret supplies of biological and chemical weapons throughout his country.”
      – Al Gore, Sept. 23, 2002

      – Al Gore, Sept. 23, 2002

“We have known for many years that Saddam Hussein is seeking and developing weapons of mass destruction.”
      – Sen. Ted Kennedy (D, MA), Sept. 27, 2002

“The last UN weapons inspectors left Iraq in October of 1998. We are confident that Saddam Hussein retains some stockpiles of chemical and biological weapons, and that he has since embarked on a crash course to build up his chemical and biological warfare capabilities. Intelligence reports indicate that he is seeking nuclear weapons…”
      – Sen. Robert Byrd (D, WV), Oct. 3, 2002

“I will be voting to give the President of the United States the authority to use force — if necessary — to disarm Saddam Hussein because I believe that a deadly arsenal of weapons of mass destruction in his hands is a real and grave threat to our security.”
      – Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Oct. 9, 2002

“There is unmistakable evidence that Saddam Hussein is working aggressively to develop nuclear weapons and will likely have nuclear weapons within the next five years … We also should remember we have always underestimated the progress Saddam has made in development of weapons of mass destruction.”
      – Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D, WV), Oct 10, 2002

“He has systematically violated, over the course of the past 11 years, every significant UN resolution that has demanded that he disarm and destroy his chemical and biological weapons, and any nuclear capacity. This he has refused to do”
      – Rep. Henry Waxman (D, CA), Oct. 10, 2002

“In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including al Qaeda members … It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons.”
      – Sen. Hillary Clinton (D, NY), Oct 10, 2002

“We are in possession of what I think to be compelling evidence that Saddam Hussein has, and has had for a number of years, a developing capacity for the production and storage of weapons of mass destruction.”
      – Sen. Bob Graham (D, FL), Dec. 8, 2002

“Without question, we need to disarm Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal, murderous dictator, leading an oppressive regime … He presents a particularly grievous threat because he is so consistently prone to miscalculation … And now he is miscalculating America’s response to his continued deceit and his consistent grasp for weapons of mass destruction … So the threat of Saddam Hussein with weapons of mass destruction is real…”

    Bill,

In order for there to be moral outrage you have to have to have morals. Don’t you realize the left will defend wrong behavior all the way to end, even if it means idolizing a known sex predator who committed perjury, obstructed justice, and lost his law license?

    • Richard Olson

Only in your warped puritan mind does consensual mean “sex predator”, Besides I doubt we need a morals lesson from someone who watches Howard Stearn.

      • crucified

Which one are you referring to?

        Juanita Broderick

        Kathleen Willey

        Deborah Mathis

        Cristy Zercher

        Elizabeth Ward

        Paula Corbin Jones

        Monica Lewinsky

    • Walt Henry

Merle, there has to be some wrong behavior before the behavior can be condemned. We’re not Arizona here. Not many of us believe birth begins two weeks before the “act.”

      • crucified

        Did you forget Bill Clinton?

        • Richard Olson

Did you forget about Mark Sanford. The guy who stole taxpayer money to finance a trip to South America to commune with his mistress while on the job. And telling the citizens of South Carolina he was on a nature hike at the time.

Then he was elected to the United States Senate by the PARTY OF FAMILY VALUES. If you say you’re a Christian and hold precious those family values, you can get by with absolutely anything in the conservative republican party. The values of conservatives are as hollow and empty as their craniums, and for sale at the merest hint of a profit. The party that says you can’t teach children about sex, but it’s ok to teach children about guns. The party that says a thirteen year old pregnant rape victim is a adult enough to have a rapists baby but not old enough to buy over the counter birth control. The very same party that says a rapist has parental rights because rape is a gift of God has one of it’s members come here to whine about Bill Clinton.

Keep it up Merle, tell me more about your conservative values.

  • Walt Henry

Bill’s got his a few of his facts and his timetable wrong but that’s not really important. The real issue is “what is the job of the IRS?” I say it is to collect taxes and to be sure that those claiming deductions are really entitled to them. Did a some number of accountants within the IRS go too far and request information they shouldn’t have for the type of tax exemption the applicants were seeking? Yep! Is there some sort of conspiracy? hahahahaha I know, I know–the tornado in Moore, OK was caused by the government’s tornado making machine.

  • Richard Olson

Hey Merle, why are you trying to turn the comments from Bill’s crazy, fruit loops letter, to Bill Clinton?
And why are you dodging questions about your decidedly anti-Christian viewing habits? Are you embarrassed by your late night viewing habits? What other soft-porn stuff are you watching? No wonder you want to talk about Bill Clinton.

  • crucified

    # 1 I used Bill Clinton’s ordeal as evidence to show liberals proclivity to defend and excuse immoral and illegal behavior. It is obvious no matter what light has been, or will be, shed on this administration that you guys will defend it to the end.

#2 I do not watch Howard Stearn, however I did receive an email of him interviewing some very knowledgable Obama voters. LOL!

#3 If there is a person who picks one word or one phrase to analyze, while ignoring the main thrust of a persons comments, that person would be R.O.

You totally ignored that we live in a culture that has been totally dumbed-down by entertainmment, main stream news media and indoctrination (A.K.A. public education)

    • Walt Henry

Don’t forget the illegal activity by the chief Washington correspondent for the “fair and balanced” news network, the one most conservatives trust, the one fighting in the rankings with Sponge Bob Square Pants, leaking classified information within 1/2 hour of his source receiving it.

      • crucified

Don’t forget the illegal activity by the chief in Washington against a correspondent for the only “fair and balanced” news network, the only one does not toe the liberal line, the only with journalistic ethics seeking to find truth, while Obama, Holder, and the rest of this corrupt administration is doing everything within its power to hide their corruption. From the Huffington Post; “DOJ Targeting Of Fox News Reporter James Rosen Risks Criminalizing Journalism”.

When you’re left of the Huffington Post, you’re waaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy out there!

        • Walt Henry

News Flash–unauthorized release of classified documents is illegal whether done by Huffington Post or Sponge Bob’s best friend Patrick.

        • Walt Henry

Oh c’mon that comment is not so controversial. Leaking and reporting classified information is a crime!

          • Walt Henry

The information leaked in Watergate was not classified. The AP leak that caused the DOJ’s extreme but not illegal use of checking phone records concerned a leak of information on an ongoing CIA operation. That’s a no-no by the AP reporter. As for Fox, they were just trying to rally the beleaguered troops, what with the FBI looking, with cause,at Michelle Bachmann’s Tea Party campaign in Iowa.

    • Richard Olson

Merle, none of those Democrats had the power to command our armies to Iraq. Only George Bush did, and you still defend him. And it wasn’t the Democrats who outed Valerie Plame, that was George Bush and the CIA and you still defend him. Looks like you’re the one defending crooks.
I also remember George Bush promising to fire someone, which he did not do. Barrack Obama has already fired those responsible.

Now if you have some actual proof of wrong doing by the President I’d like to hear it. Until then we can all assume your blather is just more of the same from Merle Hexum…lies, rumors, aspersions, in other words same old, same old.

On another front Merle you seem unnaturally interested in Bill Clinton’s sex life and the sexual shenanigans of Howard Stern. Don’t worry, I’m sure you can find an excuse. I’ve seen such behavior before in adults who were repressed sexually in their youth by “stern” parents and fire breathing sermons in church. They grow up repressed and conservative. The e-mail excuse is OK for a first effort, but it won’t float very long. Why don’t you float the “research” excuse for watching Howard Stern. That’s the excuse Pat 700 Robertson uses, it seems to work with his sheep anyway. Hey Merle, you don’t happen to have your very own personal collapsible ladder in your trunk do you?

So naturally, the IRS violated federal law?

        • Richard Olson

So naturally, the IRS violated federal law?

What on earth does that mean?

  • camobabe

    Larry/Walt and alias Richard/Curly.
Just in from CNN News, one of your 0bama slave propaganda outlets:
A poll conducted today nationwide shows that 68% of Americans believe that there is no doubt that the (0bama) IRS committed crimes in discriminating against conservative and Christian groups.
Another 21% believe that it is likely that the IRS was in the wrong or criminal in this matter.
Only 11% believe as you do that this was just a lot of propaganda by the GOP to make a mountain out of a molehill.
This just in from Camilla Ryan: Curly and Larry continue to defend the indefensible and throw out non germane smoke screens. Can Moe Phaedrus be far behind?

    • Richard Olson

Really? Alias Camilla? 68% of Americans said that the IRS was Obama’s IRS? And 68% of Americans believe there is “no doubt” the IRA committed crimes? Did those 68 % of Americans say exactly what crimes were committed? Also I have to wonder about this poll, because as reported by alias Camilla it has to be the largest poll ever in the history of the world. I wonder why I wasn’t asked for my opinion? I wonder if it could be that once more alias Camilla is bouncing off walls with her own set of facts.

See Camilla, for 68% of Americans to be counted for anything, 100% of Americans would have to be asked, and they weren’t. That’s just more hyperbole and bouncing from you for the dimmer bulbs amongst us. And I sincerely doubt that 68% of Americans or even 68% of those polled referred to the IRS as “Obama’s IRS”. That’s just more hype from you.

The fact is alias Camilla can’t be trusted to even cut and paste correctly. She has to enhance and twist facts to get the facts to say what she want’s.

Nice try Camilla, take your monkey and get back on the wall.

    • Walt Henry

Camilla, you add reinforcement to my belief facts are so important. I doubt many people know the person in charge of the IRS while these events happened was a Bush appointee. Sort of hard for a President who is a Democrat to use his influence to cause a Republican to commit a crime on his, the president’s behalf.

      • stymie

If only the IRS was a community, Obama could organize it.

  • Walt Henry

Let me write about the issue of morality in America and why, and this is just my opinion not yet based on facts, we don’t seem to care about these scandals. Remember the statement “We’re going to make him a one term President?”. Remember the birth certificate scandal and how long that played out in public? Remember what happened to the voices of the “birthers”, how they went silent and the conspiracy collapsed when the birth certificate became public? Now we have Benghazi. Hillary asked, “What difference does it make whether you call it a terrorist act or not? The men are still dead.” Now, after weeks/months of hearings, out come the White House emails and the controversy disappears.
You see folks, the AP and the IRS scandals seem to the public to be nothing more than just another attempt to make Obama a one term President–their opinion formed as a consequence of someone (the GOP)trying too hard, for too long to make something out of nothing. And yes, this does say something about morality in this country–something about how “good Christians” reject the Commandment regarding false witness. (But that is just my opinion.)

    • stymie

Let me write about the morality of people like you and Larry. You have no problem taxing and borrowing $trillions to make debt slaves out of future generations just so that you can maintain your standard of living. Republicans and Democrats are two sides of the same coin: they are inept and corrupt. Don’t try to sell me your dogma because I’m a political atheist and hate both sides equally. Get off welfare, get a job, stop stealing from others and stop flogging your keyboards.

      • Walt Henry

I try, in my actions, to follow the path of a Carpenter who once said, “whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” I’ve been incredibly blest. Still 6 years from full Social Security retirement age I’ve been gone from my “money making” job for 4 years now. I don’t need Social Security. Maybe if my health fails or my retirement savings disappear as a result of unforeseen changes, I might. But you see, whether conservative or liberal, regressive or progressive, those of us who walk the path still have the same opportunity to serve others. Some will not.

      • Richard Olson

Bob Gelder, when you say things like “Get off welfare, get a job, stop stealing from others”, you’re not fooling anyone. You’re not a political atheist, you’re a conservative, whether you want to admit it or not. Further evidence is found when you whine because someone now extant won’t eat dog food so you can live the way you think they do now. Why not take some of you own advise….get a job, save for your future and stop blaming others for your own shortcomings. If you had any idea what “debt” is and who it is owed to, you wouldn’t make such stupid statements about being a “debt slave”.

Lastly, anyone who can not tell the difference in the two major political parties is an example of why an intelligence test to vote may not be a bad idea. You sound like someone from the “me” generation with Glen Beck on the mind.

    • Richard Olson

Here is another “scandal” pushed by the conservatives. The latest is the humongous “umbrella” scandal. Wingnuts have been trying to convince the public that president Obama shamed a US Marine by forcing him (the Marine) to hold an umbrella over the President at a press conference.

Then the internet produced a photo set with Marines holding umbrellas for past Presidents Reagan, Bush, Bush and Obama. With the title “4Pesidents, 4unbrellas, 1 outrage” “What’s the difference?” The difference is one of the Presidents is a Black guy.

Before the right could find excuses for their racism the half governor from Alaska decided to chime in with her little pearl of wisdom….”Mr. President, when it rains it pours, but most Americans hold their own umbrellas.” Then once again the internet proves how phony Sarah Palin is when someone produced a photo of the half governor descending and airplane staircase with someone holding an umbrella over her head.

It’s just like the big “teleprompter” scandal.

  • Swede

The reason this IRS scheme to prevent conservative fundraising is shaking Washington to its core, is because “10 of 12 agency offices referenced in the affair are in Washington.
The report repeatedly references actions taken by the Washington-based Exempt Organizations unit and guidance specialists also in Washington.” ~Paul Bedard/Washington Examiner

It has become apparent that the 0bama administration had a hand in this, and probably the 0bama himself.

“What do all these individuals and organizations have in common? Yes, they are all conservative, but there is a more specific thing I am looking at. They all challenged President Obama and/or his policies.” http://roguepolitics.com/2013/05/17/two-points-everyone-has-missed-about-the-irs-scandal/

It looks like Chicago politics has arrived in DC.

    • Richard Olson

“It has become apparent that the 0bama administration had a hand in this, and probably the 0bama himself.”

Wow, simply wow. Now that’s what I call proof. It is “apparent” in Mike Van Horn’s mind.

It’s no longer “beyond a reasonable doubt”…. “apparent” is good enough.

      • Richard Olson

I’ll add this ….. “apparent” is good enough when the President is a Black Man! How do I know that? Because none of you so-called good citizen conservatives made a peep when George Bush was using the IRS, the CIA, the FBI and the Secret Service for political purposes.

And some of those crimes resulted in the deaths of foreign and American citizens. As far as I know no one has died because his tax exempt status was delayed .

So there is the real scandal. When it’s a White guy you phony conservatives are as quiet a the crickets in the George Bush Library, but when the President is Black you scream like a bunch of third grade crybabies who didn’t get a cookie.

It’s the umbrella outrage all over again.

      • Swede

Apparent: manifest to the senses or mind as real or true on the basis of evidence that may or may not be factually valid .

Apparent indicates “reasonable suspicion”, warranting investigation. Beyond a reasonable doubt indicates conviction after trial.

Richard, do you really have this much trouble with the English language, or are you just a troll?

        • Richard Olson

Reasonable doubt is the standard of proof BEFORE a conviction not after a trial. Apparent means “clear”.
You said “ “It has become apparent that the 0bama administration had a hand in this, and probably the 0bama himself.”
Which is the very same thing as saying “ “It has become (clear) that the 0bama administration had a hand in this, and probably the 0bama himself.” That’s “clear” as in “clear and convincing proof”.

As usual M. Van Horn you’re a day late, on the wrong side and still defending racism. (Unless of course you can direct me to your past letter to the journal taking George Bush to task for using the IRS, the CIA, the FBI and the Secret Service for political purposes.)

If you can’t then your criticism of a black man for doing what you didn’t criticize a white man for is racism. And that’s “clear” or “apparent in your vocabulary.

          • Swede

Richard, what is your reason for the goofy racism allegation? Do you even know what color I am?

0bama had a white mother and a black father. You say that I hate him because he is black. If I am black, would you say I hate him because he is white?

          • Richard Olson

Goofy racism? I’ll explain it once more. When a black person and a white person engage in the same conduct and you only raise a stink when the black person does it…..that’s racism. It doesn’t matter what color you are, but I happen to know that you are white because I was sent a photo of you with that baby Moose you were harassing .

Why do racists always pretend they don’t know what racism is. Four Presidents, four umbrellas held by Marines? What do the racists say…. “Oh I didn’t know that one guy was Black”! What s bunch of phony miscreants.

        • camobabe

A trolling athiestic socialist devoted to the goals of messiah 0bama: to destroy the United States through unsustainable spending leading to bankruptcy; to abolish the freedoms of speech through intimidation , the freedom of religion through making religious speech into “hate crimes”, to sieze control of a press corrupted in their slavish devotion to their boy child God 0bama, and use the willingness of that press to conceal and overlook the crimes of the messiah 0bama while taking the mendacious propaganda of his leftist minions as truthful and using it as their own “truth”, by denying the freedom to peacably assemble and protest the crimes of government against the people through governmental bludgeons wielded by such forces as the IRS intimidation of persons and groups opposed to 0bama, to assist the ruler in the White House to “sweep the field clear” of any opposition to the 0bama and his dictatorial goals, by whatever means are necessary.

That is our Richard the troll.Abetted by Larry alias Walt, and Moe alias Phaedrus.

          • Richard Olson

So in other words, alias Camilla, you can’t direct me to your letter either. I thought as much. You even wrote and entire rambling hysterical paragraph trying desperately to direct attention from your gangs racism.

          • Walt Henry

When confronted with math, facts or an accurate portrayal of history, Camilla and the rest of the radicalized (the reference to radicalized Islamist is not by accident) conservatives seem to have no other recourse but name calling and false innuendo. Sad. The nation’s conversation deserves better than that.

    • Walt Henry

Mike, Merle laments no one has the morality to care and you say the IRS “scandal” is shaking the nation to its core. America’s strength is concentrated in the reasonableness of the minds of the majority. This will only matter if the majority of Americans believes it matters. As of this day, it does not. Many believe the IRS SHOULD be examining the tax status of those who are likely to skirt tax exempt rules. (Remember the groups being challenged are not allowed under this section of the tax code to use word “Obamacare” as it is political in nature and the tax exemption they seek is only for educational purposes.) To many of us they seem to be political in nature so we would agree close inspection of their application was justified.

      • Swede

Larry, must you misquote me to form an argument? I stated “shaking Washington to its core”. Largesse in Washington does not exist without funding, and using the IRS as a tool to stop an opponents political campaign is blatant tyranny.

“the IRS started blocking Tea Party-type applications in April 2010 and didn’t approve a single one for more than two years” ~Investor’s Business Daily

Are you stating that all this hinged on these groups stating the word “0bamacare”? That is quite a stretch, Larry (though not for you). Maybe you should cite one of your imaginary polls to back up your claim that Americans don’t think it matters. Many Americans still believe in the First Amendment.

“Chris Littleton, one of the co-founders of the Ohio Liberty Coalition, said the group got a grilling from the IRS when it submitted its application, in letters the group has posted on its website. The IRS also gave him so much grief when he tried to apply for tax-exempt status for another group, American Junto, that “we just gave up on it,” he said.

But when he submitted an application for a third group — Ohioans for Health Care Freedom, now renamed Ohio Rising — “it went through just fine,” Littleton said. “They never asked a single set of questions.”

        • Richard Olson

“using the IRS as a tool to stop an opponents political campaign is blatant tyranny.”

No it is not….tyranny is getting shot for saying the wrong thing. Tyranny is getting hanged for being the wrong color. Tyranny is getting gassed because of your religion.
Tyranny is “gone missing” for joining a union. Tyranny is going to jail for printing the truth.

You tea baggers have cried wolf so many times you have cheapened the word “tyranny”.
If President Obama stepped on your lawn you rightwing crybabies would shout “tyranny”.

I wonder if you pity party malcontents can form a sentence without screaming “tyranny”, your party is nothing short of a gang of sympathy scolds. Everything’s a conspiracy, the sky is always falling, everybody’s always picking on you!

Here’s a little wakeup call for you Mike, and it goes for the rest of the whiners in your peanut gallery.

If you lived in real tyranny all of you would have been gone for a long time. That’s a fact!

          • camobabe

No doubt a situation devoutly to be wished by you, Larry, Phaedrus and all the rest of the obedient minions of the athiestic socialist, your big eared Supreme Leader for Life Barack 0bama.

Has it not occurred to you that we are so protective of our second amendment rights because we have seen other nations and their peoples butchered, the survivors enslaved by your fellow socialists? You hate us because we do not meekly acquiesce to your new world order of Godless socialism, and employ your policy of HEAL: Hatred, Envy, Anger, Lies, the guiding principles of the Democrat party for more than eighty years now.

          • Richard Olson

Gee alias Camilla, you’re so classy. I especially like how you destroyed every point I made with logic and reason and not once did you resort to misdirection, red herrings or even rank speculation. Boy do I feel chastised. You cut me to the very quick.

          • Swede

Richard, words have meanings, though you may wish them to mean something else.

            Merriam-Webster states
Tyranny : oppressive power ; especially : oppressive power exerted by government

Richard, your are controlled by hatred; you just slandered me for pointing out the executive branch’s abuse of power. By doing so, you are abetting oppressive government.

          • Swede

Correction, since it was written, I guess Richard “libelled” me.

          • Phaedrus

Camo-Toe: I have no interest in your multiple variations of the “holier than thou” argument, but your tedious rants brings Shakespeare’s Macbeth to mind, “It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury; signifying nothing.”

Obviously, “HEAL” is a psychological projection from you, since most of your posts are full of hate, envy, anger and lies. For example you write, “You hate us because we do not meekly acquiesce” – You don’t get to tell me how I feel, what I think, etc. because that’s beyond silly, and that’s all your posts ever do, tell others what they think because that’s what you think they think. Of course, that makes it easier to play the “holier than thou” game (cheat and play both parts).

Minions? That’s too funny coming from you, look at the definition.

“MINION 1: a servile dependent, follower, or underling 2: one highly favored : idol 3: a subordinate or petty official”

That seems like a much better description of a group that distinguishes “Republicans” from “RINO’s”. By definition, “True Republicans” would be minions – those who share all the same beliefs, given to them from “on high” by their idols Limbaugh, Hannity and Beck, and any deviation from “what your told” is enough for exclusion (to be considered a “RINO” – in other words, not minion, not part of the “group think” – too independent for inclusion).

        • Walt Henry

Call me an old fashioned conservative but I object when someone collects welfare checks when they are capable of working. I object when someone stays on unemployment when jobs are available. I don’t like people getting Social Security disability payments when there are jobs they are healthy enough to do. Likewise, I have problems with political groups getting tax breaks they are not qualified to receive. You DO understand how difficult it is to get an exemption as an educational group when you can’t use the language of your group.

          • J Mullins

No rational person would ever call you a conservative, alias Larry/Walt. Nor Christian.
You have too many times attacked conservativeas and Christians, their principles and beliefs.
Why don’t you shed your camouflage and speak out as boastfully as your fellow Marxist radicals like Curly Richard and alias Eliot?

  • Richard Olson

Go away Mike. You don’t know what you are talking about, you can’t argue, you can’t spell. All you can do is whine and cry about getting picked on and now you’re “oppressed”? Oppressed… truly oppressed people must be turning over in their graves listening to a crybaby like you whine about being oppressed.

Plus arguing with you dulls my wits. It’s like shooting fish in a barrel or picking on the village idiot. You’re not a challenge. I’ve actually had to go to other newspapers to find tea baggers that make me work for my argument. You and the rest of the dim bulb club here are no challenge. The only arrows in your quiver are name calling, whining, crying and the big one lying. If my cat could type I’d send him in here to handle my light work. But his fur gets caught between the keys and then he starts crying, which reminds me of alias Camilla and you, so I’m forced to put him outside until he starts acting like a big kitty.

  • Richard Olson

Hey Camilla, since you love to speculate so much, you must find it somewhat satisfying and even fun.
I thought I’d give it a try. You’ve called our President every name you could get by with on these publicly viewed pages and today you’ve sunk to a new low by calling him “big eared Supreme Leader for Life Barack 0bama.” While calling some one “big eared” is childish and juvenile, it speaks to your mentality. I’m forced to wonder what you call him in private when you know the public is not listening. There can be little doubt, based on your written history that the “N” word slips out more often than not in the privacy of your home.

Now that’s just my speculation. Just like is was your speculation that I wished for a tyrannical government that shot, hanged, disappeared and jailed people. The only difference is my speculation is based on your written record. I have no such record, written or otherwise.

    • Walt Henry

Careful. These people believe they deserve a tax exemption for the purpose of educating the public. That is exactly the kind of education we need to learn–how to make a point by calling someone “big ears” or some other derogatory name. Or better yet, how to determine which group of “potential freeloaders” we should ignore and which we should punish.

      • Richard Olson

Be careful yourself Larry you might make Mike and Camilla cry and that would be tyrannical oppression.

  • Richard Olson

Hey, I just remembered, during the Nixon administration I had to wait like 60 days for my tax refund. That makes me a member of an oppressed group. I’ve suffered under a tyrannical administration and like Bill Schulz said my freedom of speech has been taken away. Oh when will this tyrannical oppression end.

You can have my tax refund when you pry it from my cold dead oppressed fingers. Freedom! Liberty! Tea Bags! Big Ears!

  • Richard Olson

My Oppressive Life In Elbow Lake by Mike Van Horn

My new combine was delivered three days late.

The girl Scout who came to my door carried only six varieties this year.

Someone left the tap on and we nearly ran out of hot water.

Some Jehovah Witnesses rang my doorbell. (really loud)

The Liquor Store ran out of Champagne and we had to make do with some Napoleon VSO.

There was some static on the radio and I could only hear half of what Rush said.

That nasty Richard Olson made fun of me. (again) (He’s oppressing me)

My grass keeps growing so I have to mow it over and over.

I think some Socialist Communist Marxist Liberal took the pennies from my penny loafers.

I saw a Mexican today, he actually said Good Morning. (uppity)

The taxes on my cabana in Costa Rica went up 6 Colones.

    It’s 98 degrees today….that’s oppressive.

    • camobabe

You are laughable. If Mike or I say something, you are so filled with fury and fear that you post six or seven times, once every hour. Apparently your government check gives you time to do little more than cycle through all those other blogs where, if we can believe your accounts, you dazzle all your detractors with courage, panache, and overpowering logic and argumentation. But, of course, you are too modest to admit vanquishing all within the sight of what you write.

Then, why do you not write openly to the paper for publication of your wisdom and enlightenment for the masses, the oppressed proletariat you profess to have among your vast numbers of admirers? Bill, and Jerome, and Mike, and Merle, and I publicly state our opinions in this and other newspapers, yet all you do is lie in ambush to bushwahck anyone who has the courage to publish. I believe that it is just another sign of your moral cowardice. It figures, when you are too afraid to meet any of us in a public restaurant for a face to face coffee. Can’t afford to come out of the shadows and reveal your actual identities, eh?

      • Richard Olson

Alias Camilla, I post more than some because I answer nearly every question or issue you phonies post regardless the name you use. I have written letters to the editor. The fact that you don’t know that is your problem.

You, on the other hand rarely if ever answer anything. Your response to everything is more hysterical scolds and irrational wall bouncing. I’ve told you several times how to verify my identity. I told you to check with the VSO, which you haven’t done. Here’s a little kicker for you alias Camilla….I did. They have never heard of you. Imagine that, a 20 year veteran that no one ever heard of. Even your supposedly fellow Marine corps vets have never heard of you. Wow, imagine that. An imaginary hero on the internet that doesn’t exist in reality….go figure. Here’s an idea alias Camilla….why not have coffee with yourself and pretend I’m there.

  • Walt Henry

This morning Michelle Bachmann announced she won’t run in 2014. Her illegal use of campaign funds and the investigation by the FBI no doubt clouds the claim that “Tea P{arty” groups were unfairly investigated by the IRS. Hers is a example of tax exempt monies used for political purposes in violation of the tax code. IRS 1-conspiracy theorists 0. (so far) :)

  • Walt Henry

I found it hard to believe Bachmann would not run for re-election but I found the story on Fox News, and we all know how accurate their reporting is.

    • Richard Olson

Hey, maybe “Nurse Ratched” aka Senator Hoffman will run for the vacant position. She could sneak back across the Red River in time for the tea baggers jubilee at N.P. Park. We could use another spellbinder like Nurse Ratched. Last time she spoke there every union member in the crowd threw away their union card after just a few sentence’s from her. (according to Jerome “capitol police” Mullins)
