ALEXANDRIA – After an opening game loss, the Fergus Falls baseball team was able to snap a seven-game losing skid as it recorded a split with Central Lakes Conference foe Alexandria Thursday.
The Cardinals dominated game one as they scorched the Otters for 19 runs in a shutout victory.
Alexandria scored 16 runs in the opening frame and saw the Fergus fielder commit eight errors in a five inning affair.
In the second game, the Otters used two three-run homers and a 12 K complete game from pitcher Tim Rasmussen to gain a 6-1 win.
Rasmussen was on target from the rubber as he allowed one run on four hits and three walks.
“Tim pitched a great game today,” Otter coach Mark Aho said.
Austin Hanson and Brady Hansen each recorded long balls in the game as Hanson hit his in the third and Hansen slugged his in the fifth.
“It was nice to win by a pair of three-run homers,” Aho added.
The Otters will close out its regular season Friday as they travel to take on St. Cloud Apollo in another CLC doubleheader beginning at 11 a.m.
