PELICAN RAPIDS — A building of local significance in Erhard, the Farmers Elevator, was demolished May 21.
Though it hadn’t been used for at least 25 years, a crowd was on hand to watch the process.
Ripley’s Excavating has rented buildings on the property owned by the Stadum family, who said liability issues prompted the demolition.

WAHPETON — The Wahpeton City Council has approved the hiring of Dan Miranowski for the public works position, according to the Daily News.
He is the Fargo Operations Manager for Stantec. He previously worked as the public works director for Apple Valley and city administrator for Sauk Rapids.
He is a native of Breckenridge.

BRECKENRIDGE — Four Breckenridge High School students affixed stickers to off-sale cartons of liquor, hoping to remind legal buyers that it is illegal to provide alcohol to minors.
The Students Against Destructive Decisions group used the stickers to raise awareness of the city’s Social Host Ordinance, according to the Daily News.
Silbernagel makes memorable return
PERHAM — Perham native, First Lt. Colman Silbernagel, has returned to Perham after an eight-month tour of duty in Afghanistan.
His May 26 return made for a memorable holiday, according to the Perham Focus. Silbernagel, an engineer and platoon leader for the U.S. Army, cleared roads of Improvised Explosive Devices in the Pakitka Province, near the Pakistan border.
