Arrows miss target, fall to Raiders 6-2

Published 10:47am Tuesday, May 7, 2013

BERTHA — The Ashby softball team missed several opportunities to break the game open and the Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale Raiders were able to capitalize as they handed the Arrows their first loss of the season 6-2.

“We had numerous opportunities to score in the last four innings,” Arrows coach Kandace Norby said. “But unfortunately couldn’t come up with the key hit to drive in runs.”

Abbie Ras took the loss for the Arrows as she went the distance giving up four earned and fanning three.

Ashby’s Emily Elliot had a great game from the plate with a double, two walks, a stolen base and an RBI.

The Arrows will look to get back in the win column Tuesday as they host the Brandon-Evansville Chargers in a 4 p.m. Pheasant Conference doubleheader.
