CLC golfers converge on Fergus Falls

Published 10:31am Friday, May 10, 2013

The Fergus Falls girls turned out a respectable round Thursday afternoon as they took fifth at a home Central Lakes Conference meet.

“The girls played well today and continue to improve,” Otter coach Jon Harris said. “We moved up two places in the standings from the CLC meet on Monday which was encouraging to see.”

The Alexandria Cardinals took command of the meet winning with a 329 team score. Rocori (337) took runner-up honors, followed by St. Cloud Tech (360).

Rocori’s Marja Sorenson took top medalist honors shooting a 73. Sorenson was in a dead heat with Brainerd’s Jenny Muesing both shooting 40 after the first nine holes, but the Spartan was able to finish with a 33 on the back nine to claim the victory.

Megan Niblock led the Otter girls shooting an 87. Teammates Nikki Ellingson (90) and Morgan Daniels (93) were also under 100 at the meet.

Rounding out the team were Emily Johnson and Keanna Overland, who each shot a 108, and Katie Shelstad (114).

“Megan played a very steady round today with the exception of a couple of holes. She continues to steadily gain more confidence in her game,” Harris added.

The Otters will now travel to Alexandria for another CLC meet.
