Fire burns acres near Battle Lake

A fire damaged five to 10 acres of wooded area near Battle Lake Thursday, according to the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office.

A man reported the fire at about 11:45 p.m. Thursday, and also said that he heard an explosion near 38274 S. Eagle Lake Rd. A clearing in the damaged area was used as a campsite with a pickup truck, riding lawn mower and small shed in the area that were also damaged.
