An agricultural fire Tuesday on land near County Hwy. 15 south of Fergus Falls resulted in a citation for a farmer, according to the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office.

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources Forestry Department reported the fire at about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The Fergus Falls Fire Department responded.

The farmer will be cited for burning during a burning ban and without a permit.

As of Monday, May 6, Otter Tail was one of 13 counties placed under burning restrictions by the DNR. The DNR restricts burning during the spring between the time when snow melts and things green up, traditionally a time when most wildfires occur.
