Knights use big innings to advance in section tourney

WHEATON — After a rough past few seasons, the West Central Area Knights were able to complete one of its goals for the season as it topped the Wheaton/Herman-Norcross Warriors 8-4 in the opening round of the Section 6A playoffs Tuesday.

The Knights’ rode the arm of starting pitcher Andrew Lindor as the junior went the distance scattering eight hits and allowing four earned.

West Central’s offense sparked late as a pair of four-run innings, in the fifth and seventh, propelled the Knights to victory.

Carter Duncan led the Knight hitters going two for five with two RBI, while teammates Alex Anderson and Charlie Grenson each added two hits.

The Knights will now travel to Morris to take on the second seeded Brandon-Evansville Chargers at 12 p.m. Thursday.
