Ruf pitches Comets to win over Cowboys

BRECKENRIDGE — The Hillcrest baseball team rallied behind pitcher Skyler Ruf as they topped the hosting Cowboys 7-2 Tuesday.

The Comets were able to get on the board in the second and followed with two runs in the third and four in the fourth.

Ruf struggled with his control as he walked seven batters and hit another, but the Comets defense was able to help him strand 11 runners.

Evan Malmstrom led the Hillcrest hitters with two hits and two runs scored.

Ruf struckout eight batters and allowed four hits and one earned in the victory.

The Comets will have a break until Tuesday when they travel to take on Barnesville in a 4:30 p.m. showdown.
