Glen was born on April 18, 1959, in Glasgow, Mont., the son of Archelaus and Joyce (Smith) DeTienne. He grew up and attended school in West Fargo and graduated from West Fargo High School in 1977. After high school Glen entered the United States Marine Corps and served with his Platoon 3057 in the Phillipians, Japan and Korea.
He was honorably discharged in 1982 with a ranking of Sergeant E5. During his time in the military he was awarded the Rifle Sharp Shooter medal, Meritorious Masters, Good Conduct Medal and Sea Service Deployment Ribbon.
Upon returning from the military, Glen worked at Mrs. Blow’s Sewing Center in West Fargo as a service technician. He went on to own and operate his own sewing machine repair business.
He proceeded on to pursue his true passion and attended Moorhead Technical College, studying refrigeration and air conditioning, graduating on May 24, 1989. He then began his career as a heating and cooling technician with Ugstad Plumbing and Heating in Fergus Falls, where he worked for 24-plus years.
Organizations that Glen was involved with were the Prairie Wetlands Learning Center, Pheasants Forever and Grant County Shooters Association. Glen was a true outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting, hiking and canoeing.
He also enjoyed sharing his son’s passion for baseball and enjoyed playing the game with him. He had a love for animals and spent a great amount of time with his dog and friend, Chance.
He also had a private hobby of playing the guitar, which he enjoyed greatly.
Preceding him in death was his mother, Joyce DeTienne; brother-in-law, Rod Brakke, nephew, Shannon DeTienne and sister-in-law, RaeLynn DeTienne.
Survivors include his son, Scott Mickelson of Marshall; father, Archie (Eleanor) DeTienne of West Fargo, N.D.; siblings, Ron (Pam) DeTienne of Wheatland, N.D., Sandy (Bruce Pederson) Brakke of Comstock, Carol (Mylo) Holzworth of West Fargo, N.D.; nieces, Stacie (Rhett) Garland, Stephanie Peterson; nephews, Josh Holzworth, Nathan Holzworth, Dana Brakke, Devon Brakke; great-nieces and nephews, Alysen Garland, Elisabeth Peterson, Ronee Garland and Zane Buchholz; Glen’s significant other, Valerie Sohl of Fergus Falls, and her children, Megan (Tyler) Hatfield, Theodore Tiede and Theodore’s son, Sonny Salwei-Tiede.
Glen is also survived by his dog and loyal companion, Chance. Randy Stigen, a friend and hunting buddy of Glen’s, has taken Chance to live with him.
The family is finding peace that Glen’s companion is with a familiar friend and in a loving home.
Memorials are preferred to the Prairie Wetlands Learning Center in Fergus Falls.

Service: 7 p.m. Thursday, at the West Fargo V.F.W., with military honors provided by West Fargo V.F.W. Post 7564
Burial: Is planned at a later date at Casselton Cemetery, Casselton, N.D.
