Pioneerland Festival features several high school bands [UPDATED]

You are invited to the 26th Annual Pioneerland Band Festival, which will be held in Benson at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.

The parade will be held on 14th Street. This year’s marching band parade competition will feature nine bands from Alexandria, Bemidji, Fergus Falls, New York Mills, Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg, Patriots of St. Anthony, Bertha-Hewitt, Hutchinson, and Maple Grove. Judging will be provided by Tri-State Judges of Decorah, Iowa.

Immediately following the parade, an awards ceremony will be held at the Benson High School Athletic Field.

Cash prizes totaling over $2550 will be awarded to first, second and third place of each class division.

An overall grand prize will be given to the best band performance of the evening.
