Hurricanes edge Lakers 2-0Published 10:38am Monday, June 17, 2013
PELICAN RAPIDS — In a rematch of last year’s countryside league championship, the Fergus Falls Hurricanes were able to best the Pelican Rapids Lakers 2-0 in a Father’s Day showdown.
The game began as a pitchers dual between Fergus Falls’ Darin Stanislawski and Pelican Rapids Josh Holmes. Both pitchers were able to keep the opposition off-balance through five innings.
The ‘Canes would get to Holmes in the sixth as Alex Hensch doubled and moved to third on a wild pitch. Dan Revering, continuing his hitting streak, knocked in Hensch on a base hit.
The Lakers would threaten in the bottom half of the inning as it filled the bases with no outs. With a few key defensive plays, Fergus did not allow a run and got out of the jam.
Erik Hiedeman would plate an insurance run for the ‘Canes with a RBI single in the seventh.
The Hurricanes will look to avenge its only loss of the season as it travels to Moorhead Wednesday for a 7:30 p.m. game with the Brewers.
