A Lake George, Minn. woman who stole $700 from her Fergus Falls employer was sentenced to jail time in Otter Tail County District Court.

Katrina Marie Ewald, 32, was sentenced June 10 to 30 days in jail for felony theft by swindle. She pleaded guilty Dec. 3, 2012.

According to the criminal complaint, Ewald stole about $700 from her employer, Lakeway Market, in December 2011. Video surveillance footage showed Ewald taking money from the cash register and putting it in her pocket. She reportedly initiated fake transactions on her credit card and then refunded the balance. She also overrode the authorization system and the business incurred $2,791.58 in charge back fees in addition to the $700.

Ewald reportedly did not return to her job at Lakeway Market once police questioned her about the transactions.
