Pelican Fest offers plenty of family fun activities [UPDATED]Published 9:41am Tuesday, June 18, 2013 Updated 11:45am Tuesday, June 18, 2013
Mark your calendar for Pelican Fest July 12-13 in Pelican Rapids.
Pick your spot to watch the parade, starting at 11 a.m. July 13. The parade was just shy of 100 units last year, and Pelican Fest chairman Everett Ballard expects it’ll be about the same this year. The car show from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday grows every year, with about 150 cars last year, according to Ballard. The annual Rotary turkey BBQ on Saturday is also usually a big draw, he said.
Arvig Communications will have a customer appreciation celebration from 1-4 p.m. Friday in downtown Pelican Rapids with inflatable games for kids.
The naturalization ceremony that was moved to the Pelican Fest weekend last summer is at 1 p.m. Friday.
Other activities for this year’s Fest include: Street dance, kiddie parade, Lil Miss Pelican Pageant, used book sale, flea market, farmers market, bean bag tournaments, water wars, old fashioned bingo, VFW bingo, ice cream social, pancake breakfast, pictures with Pete and fun at the city pool.
