Residents provide reasons to celebrate [UPDATED]Published 9:49am Wednesday, June 19, 2013 Updated 12:07pm Wednesday, June 19, 2013
The media is often criticized for sensationalizing negative stories, but after reviewing the past few days, we have found that our best news has come from great people doing fabulous things in the community.
For this reason, we have decided several thumbs-up are in order.
Thumbs-up, to Paul Buendiger for all of his contributions to Make-A-Wish.
Buendiger plans to ride his motorcycle 6,200 miles to raise money for the organization.
His journey will take him from Otter Tail County to the Atlantic, Pacific and back home. Good luck, and way to go.
Thumbs-up, to Bob Pourrier for an excellent showing at the WE Fest Karaoke Roundup. Pourrier reached the top 60 in a pool of about 10,000 contestants from North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin and Minnesota.
Even though he will not be opening for a headliner at WE Fest, Pourrier was a great local representative.
Thumbs-up, to Perrie and Lucille Sheldon for celebrating 73 years of marriage.
The couple’s amazing story has once again reminded the community what marriage really means.
Thumbs-up, to the Elks National Veteran Services Commission for your contribution to the Fergus Falls Veterans Home.
The organization donated $750 for the purchase of new flags.
