Two brown bag lunch theater organ concerts with Lance Johnson are scheduled for this summer; one on Saturday, July 6, and the second on Saturday, Aug. 10.
Bring your lunch or enjoy popcorn and concessions, then relax for an hour of music, including special requests from the audience performed in a medley of your favorite tunes.
Concerts begin at noon and reserved seating tickets for adults, students and children are on sale now for $5 each (plus a $1 sustainability fee that is added to the price of each ticket).
Fergus Falls has the distinction of having one of the largest theatre pipe organs in the upper Midwest. Originally housed in the Granada Theatre in Kansas City, Kansas, original parts for AC4TA’s WurliTzer Theater Pipe Organ were brought up to Fergus Falls in the spring of 1993 by Lance, who owns Johnson Organ Company in Fargo. He then spent two years rebuilding and installing the organ.
The WurliTzer also provides live music for silent movies at the theatre, and it has been featured in Pops Concerts with world-renowned theatre organists. Many local organists enjoy playing the Center’s Mighty Wurlitzer, especially after their monthly meetings of the 100th chapter of the American Theatre Organ Society, which calls A Center for the Arts its home.
A Center for the Arts’ Fergus Theatre is at 124 W. Lincoln Ave., Fergus Falls. For more information, call AC4TA at 218-998-ARTS (2787) or visit www.FergusArts.org.
