Four Fergus Falls businesses that sell alcohol failed alcohol compliance checks done by the Fergus Falls Police Department June 20, according to a news release. A total of 19 establishments were checked.

Northern Aire Lanes and Z103 Bar and Grill may receive a $500 civil fine, since it was their first failure in three years; Applebee’s could receive a $1,000 civil fine due to its second failure within three year; and Mabel Murphy’s faces a $2,000 civil fine for a third failure within three years, according to the news release.

Each employee who sold and/or served alcohol to the underage decoys may face a misdemeanor citation.

All businesses that were checked are members of the Fergus Falls Police Department’s Best Practices Program, which offers free training for alcohol servers.

And now a word from the MN Republican Tea Party:

This is clearly an example of government overreach into business practices. If MN would only allow the free capitalist system this country was founded on to work, we wouldn’t have government regulations that impose restrictions on businesses and prevent them from growing and expanding and creating more jobs.

If government continues harassing small businesses such as these, more of them will be moving out of MN to neighboring states where they will be free to operate according to our Constitution.

Think about this Elliot. It may have been a tea party member who calculated the age of the underage purchaser. They think the earth is 5000 years old, is there any reason to think they would not think that a 13 year old ordering a beer is 35 years old?
