Bible tells Christians what is morally right

Published 9:49am Wednesday, June 19, 2013 Updated 11:58am Wednesday, June 19, 2013

I must wade into this discussion on gay marriage.

Let us admit that Christians can and do have issues and addictions that can be very hard to overcome, and real Christians don’t condemn, but offer grace, love and acceptance to those people as we help them through their struggles.

But we don’t try to normalize the behaviors, which only drives them away from Jesus, the one who can help them become whole.

I have heard of a man who divorced his wife and is now living with and having a “committed” sexual relationship with his own daughter. Can this be called an orientation? The reason that this is just as wrong as sodomy is that the Bible explicitly forbids both behaviors. Will pedophilia become a protected orientation too? What about bestiality? Is this OK?

I am just appalled at the ignorance of so many people who call themselves Christians and have no idea what the Bible teaches concerning these issues. If one can pick and choose which Biblical truths to embrace and which ones to ignore, well then “the sky is the limit.” You are certainly allowed your opinion on these issues, but if you believe contrary to the Biblical positions, how can you call yourself a Christian?

Read Romans 1: 24-32 and Leviticus: 18:22-23. The wonderful thing about Christianity is that all these addictive behaviors can be overcome and healed by the blood of Jesus Christ. Read 1 Corinthians 6: 9-11.

I agree with C. Arthur Woods when he says “If one can pick and choose which Biblical truths to embrace and which ones to ignore, well then “the sky is the limit.” That’s why I’m sure it must have been a mistake by omission when he forgot to mention the other prohibitions mentioned in Leviticus. (by the way Mr. Woods, since you have knowledge about someone having sex with their daughter you might pay very close attention to number 6 in my list below)

So  here’s chapter and verse on a more-or-less comprehensive list of things banned in the Leviticus book of the bible. A decent number of them are punishable by death.

“The wonderful thing about Christianity is that all these addictive behaviors can be overcome and healed by the blood of Jesus Christ.”

Is this the phrase that these Christian “Turn Gay to Straight” organizations refer to when they apply for hundreds of thousands of Federal grant dollars? I often wondered how Michelle Bachmann’s husband became rich at the hands of the federal government. It must have been because of this simple phrase. Who’d have thought you could become wealthy because of a bible quote?

  • Walt Henry

Alan Chambers, President of Exodus International, a “Christian” prayer and psychotherapy “ministry” yesterday apologized for the damage they have done in their attempts to “pray away the gay” and have given up their efforts to change what God has created.
(No serious Christian scholar would use Leviticus to teach morality. We like our baby back ribs too much.)

I wish Merle Hexum would show up. Then we would have a definitive ruling on which of those 76 laws we can safely ignore and which ones we really have to worry about.

    • krank

Richard, Merles absence speaks volumes here because he has nothing to say. He’s guilty of something on here..Heck everyone is guilty of something on this list. My question is why whine and piss and moan about the sliver in your neighbors eye when you have one the size of a railroad tie in your own. It’s funny how they run to the old testament when the want to accuse but use the New testament to get themselves or their buddies out of trouble. The Republicans do this time after time. Accuse the Democrats with the Old testament and exonerate their foolish own with the New testament. I’m sorry but a fool is a fool and the whole Bible is for everyone.

        Rules for leftists/socialists.
        H E A L

H is for Hatred of all who who worship God and who work to provide for themselves and their families.
E is for Envy of all who get up in the morning and earn the means to live a decent life without being ordered about by government to do so; and to spew poisonous hatred fro all who have more than the loafers seeking utopia on earth.
A is for Anger that not everyine agrees with being enslaved by the freeloaders of the world.
L is for Lies, which are the only defense against seekers of truth and freedom from dictators and parasites.

Put them all together, they spell LIBERAL LEFTIST HATE FILLED PARASITES, the folks who make the left spin on.

I can just feel the “love” exuding from your deep Christian faith Camilla. You’re an inspiration to phonies everywhere.

        • Elliot Dallavalle

I feel the love too RO. Camilla is a perfect example of the Christian right and their own interpretation of christian values – we are not to be judged, we are only to judge.

Just saw this little piece on a Christian school in Locus Grove, GA.

(Christian school won’t let 12-year-old girl play football, citing lustful thoughts and the Bible.)

Locus Grove (Ga.) Strong Rock Christian School CEO Patrick Stuart told Maddy Blythe, 12, “that men and women are created equal but different, and he said that he prayed about it and it was the wrong thing to do.”

Camilla should apply to teach at this school. It seems to represent her thinking. Her thoughts must wander during the football season tho.

……and that’s the progressive school! What’s next? Gravity?

Hey C. Arthur Woods, it’s been 10 days since you told us you have knowledge of someone having sex with their daughter (which is a criminal act). It’s also been 10 days since I reminded you about your obligation under Leviticus 5:1,which I outlined in my number 6 above.

I may have missed it, but I’ve kept a fairly close eye on several area newspapers and watched the news but I have yet to see or hear of you doing your Christian duty by Leviticus 5:1. I guess you must be one of those cafeteria Christians you complain about in your letter….remember? You said “If one can pick and choose which Biblical truths to embrace and which ones to ignore, well then “the sky is the limit.” You are certainly allowed your opinion on these issues, but if you believe contrary to the Biblical positions, how can you call yourself a Christian?”

Wouldn’t it be ironic if some nasty old atheist turned the guy in while you wrote letters about stuff you pretended to believe.
