She was born March 26, 1920, in Sverdrup Township, rural Underwood, one of six children of Peter and Pauline (Ossander) Pederson. She was a member of Sverdrup Lutheran Church, where she was confirmed on June 17, 1934.

She attended school in Underwood, graduating in 1938. After graduation, she went to Minneapolis, and joined her two sisters, Geline and Petra. She worked at a Girls Club, Mae Beth Paige, in housekeeping for some years. The three Pederson sisters lived at 3438 19th St. with no one learning how to drive, they all became educated bus riders and worked various jobs in Minneapolis. Stella Olson, a school companion from Underwood, was a special friend also living in the Cities.

On November 21, 2000, things changed for Lila. Her two sisters had preceded her in death and she was doing fine until that day while downtown, she got knocked down in a revolving door at Daytons. Someone came rushing through and knocked her down, which ended up with her having a partial hip replacement, which placed her in Augustana Care Center for rehab. From there she moved to an efficiency apartment where she was for seven years until April of 2007, after a hospital stay, she was transferred to Augustana Care Center where she lived until her death. Lila had always enjoyed reading and doing puzzles as a past time.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her sisters, Geline and Petra; her brothers and their wives, Knute and Muriel, Edward and Laura and Hjalmer and Corie.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
