Otter Tail County Board gives approval to The Homestead at Ottertail RV Park and Resort

Published 12:55pm Tuesday, June 4, 2013

The Otter Tail County Board approved the recommendation of the Planning Commission for The Homestead at Ottertail RV Park and Resort Tuesday.

Owners Greg and Beth Swanberg originally applied for a conditional use permit in August of 2011. The couple proposed a 70-acre campground near the junction of County Road 5 and State Highway 78.  Since that time, concern from area residents over a number of issues such as increased traffic, noise and lake pollution held back development. The county board cleared the way for the recommendation in April when it declared an Environmental Impact Statement was not necessary.

Bill Kalar, Land and Resource director, presented the commission’s recommendation, which the board unanimously approved.

A number of area residents in attendance exhibited disapproval for the measure when the vote was cast.
