Palmer Tverdahl, formerly of Abercrombie, N.D., died Friday, July 5, 2013, at PioneerCare in Fergus Falls.
Palmer was born on June 25, 1917, to Rasmus and Marie (Sakvik) Tverdahl in Abercrombie, N.D.
He grew up and attended school in rural Abercrombie and graduated from high school in Abercrombie.
He worked and lived on the family farm southwest of Abercrombie for most of his life.
He became a resident of PioneerCare in Fergus Falls in 2010.
Palmer was baptized and confirmed as a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in rural Abercrombie. He dedicated much of his time to that church until it officially closed.
Even after it closed he took care of the records for the cemetery and every Christmas Eve he made sure to ring the bells of St. John’s.
He was also very active in Bethany Free Lutheran Church where he was the longtime custodian and also taught Sunday School.
Palmer was also a member of Gideons International.
Palmer is survived by his sisters, Norma Otterson, Fargo, formerly of Kindred, N.D., and Thelma Burington, Flagstaff, Ariz., formerly of Prescott, Ariz.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Pauline Myers, Grace Fagervik and Ruth Gylland; his nephews, Jerome Gylland and Glen Myers; and his brothers-in-law, Ismahl “Clark” Myers, Jacob Fagervik, Oscar Gylland, Arnold Otterson and Rex Burington.
Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church Service: 11 a.m. Friday, at Bethany Free Lutheran Church, Galchutt, N.D.
