The Cormorant Area Fine Art Show, held July 13 and 14 at the Cormorant Community Center, hosted more than 600 people from across the U.S.

Twenty-five artists exhibited their paintings, clay sculptures, Norwegian Rosemaling and pine needle basketry.

The artists represented the communities of West Fargo, Fargo, Moorhead, Pelican Rapids, Detroit Lakes and surrounding areas.

Art demonstrations were held during the two days of the show.

The people’s choice award winners were as follows:

• Diane Crawford of Bemidji, first place for “Fishyssoisse,” a watercolor painting

• Jacqueline Anderson of Moorhead, second place for “The Black Sky,” an acrylic painting

• Sharon Gourde of Fargo, third place for “Yellowstone Buffalo,” an acrylic painting.

The peer artists’ choice award winner was Jacqueline Anderson of Moorhead.

Proceeds from the art sales benefit the Cormorant Community Center, fund a grant for art education in a local school and provide workshops for members and new artists.
