OTC legion advances to district tourney

URBANK — After a weekend of games in the Sub-District 9 playoffs, the Otter Tail Central legion team advanced to the Division II District 9 legion tournament.

OTC opened Saturday with a 4-2 win over Breckenridge.

The OTC offense plated three runs in the first inning of an error and RBI by Nick Trosdahl and Micah Rogness. OTC added another un in the third off an error, leaving Breckenridge in the cold for the win.

In the second game, OTC was able to dispatch Barnesville 6-5 to cash its ticket into the tournament.

Carl Colbern led the OTC offense in the game with three hits, three RBI and on run scored.

OTC looked to be making its way to the sub-district title game, but a three-final inning allowed Hawley to claim a 4-3 victory.

The teams traded runs in the third, but OTC looked to pull away as Aaron Butler single knocked in two runs giving OTC the lead.

Hawley would storm back scoring three runs in the bottom of the seventh to steal the win away from OTC.

“I couldn’t be more proud of my guys,” OTC coach Ryan Hendrickson said. “We played great defense, pitched well, had some timely hits; we played well.”

OTC will open up the tournament against the North’s two-seed Roseau Wednesday at 2:30 p.m.
