Mother Nature causes delays in street workPublished 11:11am Friday, July 26, 2013
Crews ran into a little trouble with Mother Nature, but a few street and utility replacement projects in Fergus Falls should soon be complete.
Three blocks of the street project No. 5948, Vasa, Bancroft and Alcott between Court Street and Union Avenue, didn’t get completed last fall. They hoped to have the streets ready for final paving, but ran into some trouble on one block with poor soil, according to City Engineer Dan Edwards.
They pulled out the poor soil, but then with some rain a couple weeks ago it became too wet and a challenge to get the density just right. Crews have worked for a week or two, trying to get the soil dried out.
“It’s been reworked quite a bit in the last week or two,” Edwards said.
All the underground sewer and water work is completed. They hope to have the blocks ready for final paving by the end of the week.
