Christopher Stephen McIlvain, 35, of Dent, was sentenced July 24 in Otter Tail County District Court to 365 days in jail, with 325 days to be stayed for six years, for one count of criminal vehicular homicide or operation. He was also sentenced to six years of supervised probation.
According to the criminal complaint, McIlvain was one of the drivers in a two-vehicle collision just before 6 p.m. June 30 near the intersection of County Hwy. 35 and 360th Street near Star Lake. After the collision, McIlvain hit the man who drove the other vehicle, causing him to fall to the ground. The other driver was taken to Perham Hospital and suffered a knee contusion.
McIlvain fled the scene and was later located at his residence and arrested.
