32-year-old charged with assault [UPDATED]

Darrell Lee Jordan, 32, of New York Mills, was charged June 24 in Otter Tail County District Court with gross misdemeanor domestic assault.

According to the criminal complaint, Jordan assaulted a woman on the evening of June 22 in New York Mills. An argument ensued, and Jordan allegedly picked up a shoe using a hitting motion and grabbed a dog by the neck. The victim had a cut on her lower leg. Jordan reportedly held a knife to his throat and threatened to kill himself.

Jordan was convicted of second-degree assault Oct. 30, 2006, a domestic violence related offense.
