The Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) Camp was recently held on the beautiful University of Minnesota, Crookston campus.
Each camper is sponsored by their local Rotary club and this year there were 148 RYLA campers that were sponsored by 56 Rotary International Clubs from District 5580.
Carly VanWatermulen of Clitherall and Nathan Young of Battle Lake were sponsored by the Fergus Falls Sunrise Rotary Club.
Ian Hallberg and Jackie Lee of Battle Lake were sponsored by the Fergus Falls Noon Rotary Club.
Hannah Walvatne of Battle Lake was sponsored by the Wadena Rotary and Tyler Ukkelberg of Clitherall was sponsored by the Pelican Rapids Rotary Club.
Most of the students that participated in this years RYLA camp will be High School seniors in 2013-2014.
Camp RYLA’s mission is to provide outstanding high school students with a variety of educational and recreational activities.
These activities provide numerous opportunities for leadership and team building, and they are designed to expand, improve, and refine the participants’ leadership skills.
RYLA campers are sponsored by their local Rotary Club. Campers are hosted by the Crookston Rotary Club, Rotary International District 5580, and UMC.
The students stay in the residence halls on campus during this week-long program.
