In a battle for the Countryside League title, the Fergus Falls Hurricanes were able to avenge an earlier playoff loss as it shut out the Vergas Loons 8-0.

The Hurricanes were able to start off with a run in the first and second inning before knocking in three in the fourth. The Wildcats were unable to repond as Fergus added three more runs to cruise to the victory.

Darin Stanislawski was able to bounce back on the mound against the Loons as he struckout eight hitters and allowed five hits in seven scoreless innings. Jake Heck finished off the shutout, pitching in the eighth and ninth.

Stanislawski was also impressive from the plate as he went two for four with a solo homerun in the eighth. Teammate Bryan Jacklitch went two for two with three runs scored, two stolen bases and an RBI in the win.

The ‘Canes win made it back-to-back league champions.

The Hurricanes will now travel to Urbank Saturday to take on the winner of the Brandon-Evansville Blue Dogs and Huntersville Horse Flies at 2 p.m.
