Kathy J. “Kathy” Tangen, 63, of Fergus Falls

Kathleen Tangen, currently of Rocklin, Calif., died suddenly Monday, July 15, 2013, at her home.

She was born on July 4, 1950, in Fergus Falls, the daughter of Norval I. and Eileen C. (Hexum) Wilson. As a child, her family moved to Roseville, Calif., where she attended grade school and some of high school.

In high school, she moved to Pelican Rapids to live with her grandmother, Irene Hexum. She graduated from Pelican Rapids High School.

After graduating from high school, Kathy attended nurses training in Fergus Falls. During her schooling, she met Roger Tangen. The couple married in August of 1971.

She began her LPN career in 1973, at Fergus Falls Medical Group P.A. (Lake Region Healthcare).

In August of 1986, she was hired as an LPN staff nurse for Fergus Falls Public Schools. She enjoyed working with staff and students for the next 20 years.

In 2007, she moved to Rocklin, Calif., to be closer to her mom and sister.

She was also known to love the California weather.

Preceding her in death was her father, Norval.

Survivors include her two children, Dawn (Grant) Anderson of Fergus Falls and Darren Tangen of Elizabeth; her mother, Eileen Wilson of Rocklin, Calif..; one sister, Virginia (Hank) Bermudez of Rocklin, Calif.; two nephews, Ronald (Nicole) Henderson, and their children, Presley, Blake, and Brennen of Rocklin, Calif., and Steve (Julie) Henderson of South Lake Tahoe, Calif.; an aunt and uncle, Elroy (Rosetta) Hexum of Pelican Rapids; and many cousins and friends.

A graveside service is planned at 10 a.m. Tuesday, at New Auburn Cemetery in Auburn, Calif. Memorials are preferred to donor’s choice.

Cochrane Wagemann Funeral Home in Roseville, Calif., is in charge of arrangements.
