Neal Barnard, M.D. will present at PioneerCare Center in Fergus Falls on Thursday, August 22 as part of his 2013 book tour.

PioneerCare is recognizing the importance of diet to good health and well being and would like to encourage the community to become involved.

Dr. Neal Barnard will be presenting his research on health and disease to help inform the community of the importance of good personal dietary choices.

The Fargo native, now nationally known for his clinical research, has revolutionized the treatment for type 2 diabetes with a low-fat vegan diet and is now tackling Alzheimer’s disease with the same approach.

He is an author of dozens of books, including the New York Times bestsellers Power Foods for the Brain and 21 Day Weight Loss Kickstart; and the USA Today bestseller Dr. Neal Barnard’s Program for Reversing Diabetes.

Barnard is the president of the nonprofit Physician’s Committee for Responsible Medicine as well as a faculty member of the George Washington University School of Medicine.

His research appears in numerous scientific journals, including the American Journal of Cardiology, Diabetes Care, and Preventive Medicine.

Dr. Neal Barnard is a frequent lecturer at many conferences and has presented for the American Public Health Association, the World Bank, the National Library of Medicine, the Franklin Institute, the American Medical Writers Association, the Association of Health Care Journalists, the Center for Science in the Public Interest, and many state dietetic associations.

He is also a regular on the Dr. Oz Show and has appeared on Today, ABC’s Good Morning America, CBS This Morning, and the Ellen DeGeneres Show, among others.

Two sessions will be offered at PioneerCare; the 2:00 pm session will include a lecture for a ticket purchase of $5 — and the 5:30 pm session includes lecture, dinner, and book signing for a ticket purchase of $25.
