The Evansville Art Center presents Josie Nelson at its first Friday concert as part of the Evansville 4th of July festivities.

Josie Nelson is 13 years old and attends Discovery Middle School in Alexandria. She is a musician who started performing at the age of 9 when she entered a county fair talent contest.

Josie began writing music at age 10 and she won the pre-teen division of the 2011 Minnesota State Fair Amateur Talent Contest singing one of her original songs.

At age 11, Josie was contacted by Tyler Ward, successful YouTube musician and producer. After seeing one of her videos, he invited her to his studio in Colorado where they recorded music and videos together.

In the past year, Josie has put a second EP on iTunes, which includes six of her original songs, and she has taken recent trips to Los Angeles, where she has had some amazing experiences working with multi-platinum producers, writers, and record labels.

Locally, Josie loves performing at the Evansville Art Center whenever she gets the chance for open mic nights or concerts.

She also performs regularly at Carlos Creek Winery.
