One of the two suspects who allegedly robbed the General Nutrition Center in Fergus Falls in April made her first appearance in Otter Tail County District Court July 18.

Alyssa Nicole Beard, 20, of Virgina Beach, Va., was charged in May with first-degree aggravated robbery, second-degree aggravated robbery and simple robbery, all felonies. According to Fergus Falls Police, she and Jarrod Everett Birch, also from Virginia, were located in Nebraska and arrested April 22 in connection with at least six robberies in Virginia, Missouri, South Dakota and Minnesota in April.

According to the criminal complaint, Fergus Falls police received a theft-in-progress call at 12:45 p.m. April 20 at the GNC store at WestRidge Mall. Beard and Birch stood at the counter and Birch allegedly asked the employee to “calmly put the cash in the bag.” The employee took money out of the register and put it into a bag. The duo reportedly left the store with between $150 and $200. No weapons were used at the WestRidge Mall robbery, though Birch brandished a handgun in some of the other robberies.

Beard’s next court appearance is scheduled for July 29.
