President should take a cue from previous U.S. leaders

Published 9:37am Wednesday, July 17, 2013 Updated 11:40am Wednesday, July 17, 2013

I read many papers and magazines. Recently I read about three past presidents of the U.S.A. and how they dealt with a problem which still creates turmoil in our nation.

Did you know that at the beginning of the Great Depression in the 1930s, President Hoover ordered the deportation of all illegal aliens to make jobs available for the American citizens who were desperate to find jobs?

President Harry Truman deported more than two million illegal aliens to free up jobs for veterans returning from World War II.

President Eisenhower began the deportation of illegal aliens in 1954. His intent was to free up jobs for veterans returning from World War II and the Korean war. The program led to approximately 13 million illegals being deported. We currently have at least that many illegals here today, taking jobs from millions of unemployed Americans.

So, if Presidents could deport illegal aliens in those past times, our current President could do so today. It is fair to ask, why can’t this be done today?

And, the answer is simply that Hoover, Truman, and Eisenhower were men of honor, not dishonest politicians looking for votes.

Today’s untrustworthy politicians instead want us to pay our recently increased taxes so they can fund the many benefit giveaways to the 13 to 24 million illegals here today. So, don’t forget to pay your taxes cheerfully.

Here is your answer Mandy, it’s from fact check dot org.

Some time you should try to check your facts before you send out those chain emails disguised as letters to the editor. You won’t look quite so foolish.

  • Walt Henry

Wow! How can someone be so completely wrong and yet claim to be well-read on a subject?
    Source analysis is important.

  • Elliot Dallavalle

Mandy – I hope you show your children the response from Richard so they can look up the “factcheck” address. They then can see what kind of person their mother is. Should be a real eye opener for them don’t you think? I mean, come on, who would write a LTE that clearly is a complete lie? Good Old Mom!

Sad thing is,ignorant people who blindly choose to believe such bunk also vote!

  • Walt Henry

It’s common knowledge there were a record number of deportations in 2012 and that they have been at all time highs for almost all of the Obama administration. Mandy could be ill-informed but, if you look closely at her comment, she might be suggesting the efforts of President Obama, his admistration, the Justice Department under the control of Eric Holder should continue. (Why is it so hard for conservatives to give credit where credit is due?) On the other hand, if her comments are as they appear at first glance I hope the MN Department of Education looks closely at the kind of “education” some children receive. Society does have a right to protect itself.

  • Richard Olson

The sad part is that somewhere within the circulation reach of this newspaper there breathes a reader who will only see the print version of this letter where rebuttals take a week to appear in print, if at all. That person will not have seen these comments therefore he/she will not know the truth.

Then that uninformed reader will venture into the Viking some morning and repeat Mandy Peterson’s letter to another Ill-read dim bulb who will gladly buy the story hook, line and sinker because it jives with his racist hatred of President Obama and with the garbage he heard on Fox News.

Thus breeds another mental midget unable to distinguish truth from fiction, reality from fantasy and illusion from fact, with just enough brain power to pull the lever for the conservative candidate willing to feed his fantasy and sheepish enough to join Bill’s posse marking time in the Wal-Mart parking lot.

Ha, Mandy Peterson’s lack of integrity has spread far enough that even Bluestem Prairie picked up her dishonest letter. I doubt that’s the kind of fame Mandy was hoping for. Read more here….

Bluestem Prairie is just another Marxist propaganda blog attacking any and all who refuse to bow down to the socialist scheme.

For decent God fearing and patriotic Americans, being attacked by bluestem is a badge of honor. Only a fellow radical would be happy when bluestem attacks someone.

      • Walt Henry

I doubt being attacked for being ignorant or dishonest is hardly a badge of honor most people would wear proudly.

      • BrendanJanssen

To be considered a radical, shouldn’t a person be advocating for extreme change? I guess my point is that if anyone here is advocating for extreme change, it’s Mandy. Nothing, to the extremes that she has presented, has happened in regards to deportations. So, wouldn’t a person who wanted these extreme examples to occur be considered the radical?

Also, if you believe being held accountable for spreading lies is a badge of honor, then your morals are quite corrupt. This is especially true for someone who touts himself to be a devout, Christian.

      • Richard Olson

Yes yes Jerome those nasty Socialist at Bluestem Prairie. By the way Jerome they accept Mastercard Visa, American Express, Discover Card and Paypal. I guess they haven’t quite mastered that whole Socialism thing just yet.
