Hydrant removal means water will be off for the dayPublished 11:11am Friday, August 2, 2013
The city of Fergus Falls will remove a 1930s era hydrant at the corner of South Union Avenue and West Vasa Avenue starting today, which means some residents in the area will be without water Monday, according to a news release from the city.
Public works crews will turn off water to the 600 and 700 blocks of South Union Avenue, and the 300 block of West Vasa Avenue at about 7:30 a.m. Monday, to do the work. The water should be back on for the residents in this area by 7 p.m.
A new hydrant was installed on Vasa Avenue in lieu of the hydrant on Union Avenue. Water might have a slight discoloration due to air. Residents are asked to run the water in their faucets for a while.
Due to the roadway being constructed of concrete, it will be one week before the work area can be opened to traffic. Citizens should use caution in the work zone.
Questions may be addressed to the public works department at 332-5435.
