Council to look for public works engineerPublished 11:05am Thursday, August 8, 2013
The council approved starting the hiring process to hire a public works engineer. The city will advertise for a public works engineer this fall. The position will be funded out of the general fund with the vacant building department position allocation for 2013 and will be incorporated into the 2014 budget process.
During 2009 budget reductions, the vacated position of an engineer to assist both engineering and public works was not filled. The city would like to fill the position due to upcoming retirements and current projects and workloads. It will allow for not only a better level of service, but also to have depth within the Public Works Department.
The position will work on infrastructure planning, implementation, permitting requirements and management.
