A Faribault man who stole an ATM from a bank in Bluffton last November was sentenced to 24 months in prison.

Chad Michael Larson, 36, pleaded guilty and was sentenced Aug. 13 in Otter Tail County District Court for felony theft.

According to the criminal complaint, an ATM was taken Nov. 12, 2012 from the lobby of the Bluffton branch of the Wadena State Bank. Video surveillance showed a man entering the bank at 1:29 a.m. when he wrapped a sleeping bag and strap around the ATM. At the same time, an SUV pulled up to the lobby and then pulled out the 800 to 1,000-pound ATM.

The value of the machine was about $6,000 and it contained $4,200, the report says. Pieces of the ATM were found that afternoon on County Hwy. 19 north of County Hwy. 76.

A search of Larson’s criminal history indicates he was sentenced for several crimes, including burglary and state lottery fraud.

Also charged in the case was Sammantha Jean Doerneman, of White Bear Lake, who was sentenced in June to 23 months in prison for felony theft.
