Hit-and-run kills dogPublished 11:35am Thursday, August 22, 2013
A dog was killed Wednesday evening in Ottertail after it was hit by a car which then left the scene, according to a news release from the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office.
The dog’s owner walked with her huskie/pit bull named Cooter across County Hwy. 1 by her residence in the 41400 block at 8:45 p.m. when a vehicle headed westbound reportedly accelerated toward her and her dog.
The woman jumped out of the way, but the vehicle hit and killed her the 6-month-old dog. The vehicle didn’t attempt to slow down and it continued west, according to the dog owner.
The vehicle is described as a white Chrysler Pacifica or something similar, and it should have noticeable front-end damage. The dog owner didn’t get a driver description but believes the suspect lives along the north side of Otter Tail Lake.
Anyone with information regarding this incident should contact the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office at 998-8555.
