Fishing pier to be installed in Ottertail [UPDATED]

Published 9:34am Friday, August 23, 2013 Updated 11:35am Friday, August 23, 2013

Pelican Bay in Ottertail will be home to a new fishing pier as soon as this fall, according to the Henning Citizen’s Advocate.

The planned pier is still contingent on state agencies’ approval of the final plan.

The project, which will be handicapped accessible, will total $20,000 to $30,000 and will be entirely financed by the Ottertail Rod and Gun Club. The only cost the city will incur is an increase on their liability insurance policy.

The new pier will be located across from the public access on Otter Tail Lake near Highway 78. Anglers will be far enough onto the lake that fishing from the pier will still be enjoyable.
