Otters lose dual to Tech on final swim

It came down to the wire in the pool for the Otter girls swim team Thursday night as it fell to the St. Cloud Tech Tigers 89 to 94.

Fergus finished first in several individual events. Senior Abby Fisher finished first in the 100 fly with a time of 1:04.73. She also took first in the 100 backstroke (1:03.66).

Sophomore Emilie Reard scored two first place finishes for the Otters as well. Reard finished the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:15.34. She also took the 200 IM with a time of 2:26.19.

Junior Dani Ross also contributed a top finish for the Otter team, taking the 100 free event with a time of 57.08.

The Otters picked up points in the 200 medley relay as well, with a top finish by the team of Emily Hauck, Fisher, Reard and Ross with a time of 1:59.29. The team of Jade Emery, Hattie Koeckeriz, Summer Kalenberg and Caitlyn Colbeck finished second (2:07.33).

“This is one of the best athletic performances I have experienced in regards to competing and challenging oneself,” said head coach Tom Uvaas. “Again, I am very proud of these young athletes.”
