Pelican Rapids to vote on school renovations [UPDATED]

Published 9:35am Friday, August 30, 2013 Updated 11:36am Friday, August 30, 2013

A Pelican Rapids school renovation and improvement plan will go to a vote on Nov. 5.

The $21.9 million plan would call for kitchen renovations, replacement of a fine arts auditorium and wrestling and dance spaces, among other projects. Safety and handicap accessibility would also be a priority of the project.

The referendum became official Aug. 19, when the School board voted to place the issue on the election day ballot. It will be a strict “yes” or “no” vote.

Project supporters are already coming out with campaign and awareness plans, including posters, flyers and a chili feed. No vocal opposition to the program has surfaced as of yet.
